Watch Two Guys Line Dance in the Road While Stuck in Gatlinburg Traffic
The great tourism mecca of Sevier County grew along a single spine known as the Parkway. The road connects Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the vast majority of tourism destinations in the area.
It makes traffic overwhelming.
At various times throughout the year – especially during Rod Run – it’s just impossible altogether, a never-ending snaking line of brake lights and rear bumpers stretching as far as the eye can see.
Which is exactly what happened last weekend during the 2020 Fall Rod Run event when Jonathan and Kaylee Malone found themselves stuck in bumper to bumper traffic at 1am in Gatlinburg.
Luckily, Dylan Woods and Josh Fugate happened to be in the car next to her and were ready to entertain.
The dancing duo from Virginia cranked up their car stereo, cued up "The Git Up" by Blanco Brown, and began to line dance in the street.
"We actually did not know Josh or Dylan before they got out and danced in the middle of the road. We had been traveling alongside them while stuck in traffic from Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge and the people in the back of their truck actually offered us some pizza," said Kaylee Malone.
"All of a sudden Josh and Dylan got out and just started dancing on the road like they had rehearsed it! It was like a movie! I told my husband to grab my phone and record it because it made us so happy."
The post has since gone viral which, at the time of this writing, has accumulated nearly 40,000 shares and over 1 million views.
In the video, cheers and whistles from onlookers are audibly heard as the pair showed off the best coordinated dance moves. The dance continues for nearly a full minute before traffic once again begins to budge and they return to their vehicle.
"We live close by, but had never been in traffic like that before," said Malone. "People are always complaining about the traffic, complaining about this whole year really. So I’m glad this was able to make people happy and see it’s okay to stop and enjoy the little things in life instead of focusing on all of the negative. I know it sure did make us happy and brought us joy."
"We were involved in the wildfires - it was the first place we went after we got married and now this! The Smoky Mountains have always been special to us and now this memory will be added to the list. It was definitely a moment we will never forget."

About the Pigeon Forge Rod Run
Rod Run is a hugely popular car show event that normally takes place in the spring and fall. The 3-day show is geared toward car enthusiasts and normally features cash giveaways and awards.
Spring Rod Run was formally cancelled after being rescheduled numerous times. Despite this cancellation, thousands of guests flocked to Pigeon Forge and created their own informal Rod Run event in early June.
The Fall Rod Run event was held this past weekend, on Sept 17-19 and was the first formal event of the year.
Despite attracting an often debilitating amount of traffic, to the frustration of many locals and some guests, Pigeon Forge Rod Runs remains the area's biggest and most popular car show event.
